Lost and Found

Remember this bag? Some low-life stole it last fall from a store in Louisiana. It was on loan to Bernina for a year-long trunk show, and I've never seen it again. I was heartsick.

A replacement bag was made but it was of VERY low quality. It was so bad in fact, that i wouldn't even want anyone to think that it was made from one of my patterns. I can't use it, it's that bad! Whatever happened to the golden rule? I know it wasn't the store's fault that it was stolen, but wouldn't you think they would want to replace it with as lovely a bag as possible?

Anyway, when Bernina found out, they very graciously offered to pay for a suitable replacement to be made, and when the check arrived, there was really only one person that I wanted to ask, and that would be Peg Rice of Westport Island, Maine, (otherwise know as the "Gadabout Queen"). Peg has made more beautiful Gadabouts than you can shake a stick at, so I was thrilled when she said yes. I didn't offer any color suggestions or preferences. I just told her to pick out what she wanted to work with because I knew everything Peg makes is pretty. So imagine my surprise when I opened up the box last week and saw THIS! The very second i saw it, all I could think of was my missing cover bag. I could have jumped for joy. It was such a lovely surprise and it's almost like having my old bag back again! There's no other exterior she could have made that would have made me any happier!

Great job Peg! (and don't worry, this one's not going out on any trunk shows!)

  1. What a gorgeous bag Peg made for you! I'm awed by the great use of fabric and her placement...
