It takes us about 8 full hours to put together our Quilt Market display booth. it's a long tedious process, but now, thanks to the miracle of modern photography, we condensed the process to a mere three minutes! :)
Here's the way our booth, (#201), looked when we got inside the George Brown Convention Center when it opened at noon, with all 9 of our boxes neatly stacked on a pallet. Don't they look great? I LOVE, love, love my plastic cases. It's so nice not to have to worry about the condition of my precious cargo when it arrives!
Experience has taught me to pack up the supplies so they can be removed in the order in which they will be needed for assembly. And since I also record the exact contents of each box, I can easily get to the first items I'll need...
in this case, our green draperies, which have to be pressed before they're hung.
Once that's done we can hang our banners and various pictures and posters, plus lay our foam flooring. If you look closely, you'll see that we only bring enough flooring to cover the open floor area. We never lay flooring under our tables. First off it's unnecessary weight for us to ship, & secondly we store all of our boxes under our tables, and they're easier to move around on the bare flooring than over the textured foam tiles.
Next, we dressed our tables, (our Facebook friends might note that the new table skirt fabric matches the old pretty darn good!), and then we assembled the new shelves that my Dad made.
With that done, we can cover the shelves with fabric & set out our metal wreath stands. If you remember, we decided on our bag & stand placements when we did our practice run in the studio a few weeks ago, so this is an easy job now!
And on the corner of the table on the right, you can notice our brand new revolving notions pegboard stand (it's purple, of COURSE!). But by now it's 4:30 and I'm really not that crazy about setting out my handbag and notion samples just yet, so we call it a night and head back uptown for some supper!
We returned to the Convention hall bright and early on Friday morning (~830am). The day before Market is an extremely busy day because I have two schoolhouse presentations, (one for Checker Distributors and one for Pattern Peddlers), and I need to finish my display. Here's my notions display, loaded and ready to go.
And here's our display in it's finished state, all ready for the opening bell on Saturday morning. I changed the placement of a few of the bags from the original plan, and I've set myself up with two separate sales stations, one on each of the table ends.
So.... What do YOU think?
Would you stop and shop in this booth if you were at Market?
